In a startup’s year-end close, what matters most is often something that should have been caught before the financial year ended. In this training, an accounting professional and an auditor walk through what to check in time.
The webinar is for startup founders, finance leads and board members. If your financial year ends on 31 December, there is still time to fix things that can no longer be fixed once the books are closed. You’ll get practical examples and a checklist to review your own company’s position before the year ends.
Topics include:
- Equity adequacy: what your equity will look like in 6–12 months, and what happens if it turns negative
- Capitalising development costs: what qualifies, how to document it, and what to do with assets left on the balance sheet after a pivot
- Financing arrangements: reserve for invested unrestricted equity (SVOP), capital loans and share issues, and the decisions and documents each one requires
- Revenue recognition for SaaS and Business Finland grants: why an invoice or cash in the bank isn’t yet revenue or income
- Governance in order: minutes, shareholder register and agreements up to date before year-end
- Audit findings: the most common gaps and how to avoid them in time
Presenters:

🟦Fredrik Bäck, KHT auditor and Chair of the Board, DFK Finland Oy: the auditor’s view on what gets checked in a startup’s financial statements and governance
We’ll see you there!
